How is dimensional weight calculated?

For all FedEx Express shipments to any other country, dimensional weight is calculated by a special formula.

This is:
Length x Width x Height (all in cm) divided by the 'factor number' (5000)

FedEx reserves the right to assess transportation charges based on dimensional weight for all shipments.

Shipments may also be physically measured or pass through an overhead scanner which will measure or weigh the shipment.

A dimensional weight (weight based on the size of the shipment) may be applied if the weight of the shipment is less than the dimensional weight.
